Abstract

Technical and vocational education (TVE) has long been recognized as a major vehicle for national development and growth. This study was aimed at finding out the opinions of employers of labour on the roles of TVE in sustainable development in Nigeria. The sample comprised of 84 indigenous and 72 multi-national employers in the south-south geopolitical zone of Nigeria. Two research questions and two null hypotheses guided the study. A duly validated questionnaire was used for data collection. Data was analysed using statistical mean and standard deviation to answer the research questions, while t-test statistics was used to test the hypotheses. The findings revealed among other things that employers were not satisfied with the contribution of TVE to sustainable development in Nigeria. Based on the findings, it was recommended that government of Nigeria should provide effective leadership and partner with private sector in order to place TVE in its rightful position in sustainable national development.
